Breakfast Meeting with Principal

The Parents Support Group (PSG) organised a Breakfast Meeting for parents of our new students on 7 April 2017. This meeting aims to engage parents so that we can get to know them better, as well as gather feedback and suggestions from them in our partnership journey. The parents also learnt about the aims of primary education in Singapore and the school’s directions and effort to achieve these aims. They were also invited to pen down their responses to what they hoped the school could do for their children’s learning at Yio Chu Kang Primary.

Parents also learnt about the mission and key roles of the PSG. They were encouraged to take part in the various activities organised by the PSG for the PSG through the sharing by the PSG members. The School Full-Time Counsellor, Mr Jerry Ang spoke about Family Matters at School programme which aims to equip parents and students with the skills and knowledge to foster better parent-child understanding and relationship. Parents were encouraged to participate in upcoming events planned for them and to sign up for the informal ‘Coffee Shop Talks’ planned for them. The meeting ended with a lively Question-and-Answer session.

PSG Brisk Walk on Coney Island, 20th May 2017

On the early hours of 20th May Saturday morning, the weather was perfect for the PSG organized Brisk Walk on Coney Island off the Punggol Settlement. A strong contingent of 180 parents, grandparents, school leaders, teachers, uncles, aunties and children donned colourful walking outfits to complete the 3km route. After much panting and perspiration, the YCKPS families gathered at the end point for a healthy morning cup of fruit snack. It was indeed a refreshing and unique family bonding activity the families.
